What to expect at your first lash appointment

If you have never had a lash service before, the uncertainty is usually less about the result and more about the process. What happens when you arrive. How long you will be there. Whether you need to do anything beforehand.

The answers are simple. Here is what a first appointment looks like for each of the three services offered at Lashout Studio.

Before any appointment: how to arrive

This applies regardless of which service you are booking.

Arrive with clean lashes. No mascara, no eye cream, no residue from any eye product. If there is anything on your lashes when you sit down, the service starts with a cleaning step, which cuts into your appointment time and can affect how well the result holds.

Remove contact lenses before the service begins. Bring your case.

That is the full list. You do not need to do anything special the night before. Clean lashes, no contacts.

Lash extensions: what the first appointment looks like

A first lash extensions appointment runs one hour. That includes the consultation.

The consultation happens before any work begins. Patty will look at your natural lashes, confirm your style choice -- Classic, Volume, or Hybrid -- and answer any questions. If you have heard conflicting things about lash extensions elsewhere, this is the time to raise them. Ten minutes, in person, before the service starts.

Then you lie down and the extensions are applied. Most clients fall asleep.

You leave with a full set, same day.

One thing worth knowing before you book: lash extensions shed with your natural lashes as part of the normal growth cycle. By the two-week mark, gaps appear where lashes have shed. A fill appointment -- up to 30 minutes -- restores the set. If you wait longer than two weeks, a fresh full set is needed instead.

The easiest way to protect your investment is to book your fill before you leave your first appointment.

Lash lift: what the first appointment looks like

A lash lift appointment runs up to an hour and a half.

There are no extensions involved. The service curls your own lashes -- nothing added, nothing attached. The result looks intentional without looking done.

After the appointment, there is a 24-hour restriction. Keep your lashes dry and away from steam for the first day. No washing your face over the lash line, no sauna, no heavy gym session. After 24 hours, your normal routine resumes.

Results last four to five weeks.

If you have lashes that hold a curl easily and you want a clean, low-maintenance look, a traditional lash lift is a straightforward choice.

Korean lash lift: what the first appointment looks like

A Korean lash lift appointment runs up to two hours.

The process has an extra step that a traditional lift does not. Before the rods are applied, your lashes are flattened and the formula is applied in that state -- 30 minutes per eye. This makes the lash genuinely pliable before the curl is set, rather than working against resistance. Once that phase is complete, the rods go on and the shape is locked in.

The result of that preparation is retention. Where a traditional lift lasts four to five weeks, the Korean method holds seven to eight.

There is no aftercare restriction with the Korean lash lift. You can wash your face, go to the gym, apply mascara -- immediately after your appointment. Your lashes are your own. Nothing to protect.

The Korean lash lift is the right choice if your lashes are naturally straight or resistant and have not held a curl well in the past. It is also the right choice if you simply want fewer appointments per year -- the longer retention makes it worthwhile for anyone who currently gets a traditional lift.

A note on two common questions

Can I get a lash service if I am pregnant?

Both lash extensions and lash lifts are generally considered safe during pregnancy. Hormonal changes can affect your natural lashes during this time, which may influence how the service holds. If you have any concerns, check with your doctor beforehand. Patty is happy to discuss your specific situation during your consultation.

Can I get a lash service if I have an eye infection?

No. If you currently have conjunctivitis, a stye, blepharitis, or any other active eye infection, please wait until it has fully cleared before booking. This protects your eye health and the quality of your result.

What to do next

If you know which service you want, call or text to book. If you are not sure, that is a two-minute conversation -- not a decision you need to make alone before picking up the phone.

Full preparation and aftercare detail for each service is on the Your First Visit page.
